The New York Knicks stand 8-2 for their last 10 games played. As the 2025/26 season draws closer to an end the race for second place in the Eastern Conference continues to heat up between New York and the Boston Celtics. Both teams stand 5.0 games back of first place Detroit, but Boston carries a 47-24 record compared to the Knicks’ 48-25 record. Overall though when it comes to seeding, both teams are tied for the No.2 seed.

Both New York and Boston will square off on April 9th at MSG, in what would be the third-to-last game of the season for the Knicks.

New York has gained on Boston over the course of the last 10 games due to their success and Boston’s 6-4 L10 record. The Knicks are currently riding the high of what is a 7-game winning streak. New York is set to face the Hornets Thursday night in Charlotte, as the team looks to make it eight-straight wins.

New York’s winning streak has showcased an offensive showcase from Karl-Anthony Towns, along with historic feats from bench player Tyler Kolek and Jalen Brunson continuing to be the clutch leader that he is.

Obviously OG and Josh Hart have been massive players as well. In reality, the entire Knicks team is clicking together perfectly during this winning streak.

I feel the biggest factor above all though is the usage adjustment of KAT.

Now, I have been very critical of how the New York Knicks have used Karl-Anthony Towns throughout this season. When KAT is good he is great, but when he is bad..well he’s awful.

Mike Brown adjusting the offense late in the season for Towns has been massive. By adjusting, it simplifies Towns’ role at the four. “So I had to make some adjustments to try to figure out how I can get him involved a little bit better, get him to feel a little more comfortable and it’s showing a little bit,” said Brown.

“When he [KAT] is at the four spot, we’ve really simplified it so that he doesn’t have to think as much. And when he doesn’t have to think as much, he can just react,” Brown added.

Towns’ performance has allowed him to get the honors of Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Towns’ stats during New York’s seven game winning streak comes with him averaging over 24 points, 12 rebounds and being at 42% in 3-pointers as well with over +40 while on the court.
