S.Q.S: Save Quigley Stadium

A FIELD OF DREAMS TURNED BROKEN: Built in 1947 by Mo Quigley using decommissioned New Haven rail car lumber, Quigley Stadium would become a hub for some of the best baseball on the east coast in the Post-War era throughout the Gen. X era.

Quigley Stadium would be hub to numerous barnstorming games, which even featured hall of fame players Satchel Paige and Willie Mays. In the early 1970s, the stadium would be home to the Double-AA West Haven Yankees (NYY), and the West Haven A's (OAK), winning a combined 5 titles in 10-years.

After minor league baseball left due to poor conditions, the City of West Haven (who has owned the stadium since 1951) would continue their lack of maintenance. Now, in 2025, the stadium is still used in the summer and holds occasional high school games, but otherwise sits unused and is in an extreme state of decay due to the City's neglect.

About The S.Q.S Project And Its Founder

The Save Quigley Stadium Project (S.Q.S), was founded in late 2022 by NewYorkSportsShow.Com creator, Dominic Konareski.

Konareski, who grew up just blocks away from the stadium is an avid baseball fanatic and West Haven sports historian.

With the ultimate goal to have Quigley Stadium get its much-needed renovation and achieving historical status, Konareski has spoken at numerous city council meetings along with using his New York Sports Show platform to publicize the movement of the project.

Dominic knows that it will be hard and a long-fought battle to rejuvenate the stadium, but he also believes in the fact that anything is possible as long as you try.

"Quigley Stadium is a field of broken dreams and a true testament of what once was. I believe that, with proper help, the stadium can once again reach great heights and be a true service to both young and elderly of West Haven and its surrounding areas."

- Dominic Konareski
