Dear LeBron, New York DOES NOT Want You

There are numerous reports that LeBron James’ time with the Lakers is reportedly coming to an end soon.

NBA Insider Jake Fischer said Monday during a live stream that, “the Lakers are ready to move on from LeBron James,” also saying how he thinks that LeBron is ready to move on as well.

Likely this move will come over the offseason, but frankly who would want him? King James has taken a mighty fall over the past three seasons. Fact is James is 41 and has not appeared in more than 75 games since 2017. So far the 2025/26 season has seen LeBron play in 31 games, where he has averaged 21.9 points, the lowest since his rookie season back in 2003.

Many are linking Bron to the Knicks, and I will be the first one to say that simply won’t happen. The New York Knicks, heck even throw in the Brooklyn Nets too, do not need a 41-year-old taking up cap space and bench space because he doesn’t even play regularly anymore. If this was a decade ago in 2016, I’d say sign him. Do whatever has to be done to bring him to New York. Now though Bron is aged and he just possesses a risk of limited play.

And it is not like he will suddenly have a career revival at 42 next year. More than likely LeBron will be done after this season, because I don’t see why any team would want to pay millions of dollars just for someone to ride the bench, especially after what we all saw with Ben Simmons.

I know, the Simmons contract was horrible in its own way, but you get the point: pay millions for what is a glorified bench player who is constantly on the IL.
