During the first inning of the Yankees-Rangers game today, New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez would be removed after a scary hit with the Yankee Stadium outfield wall. Dominguez, 23, made a brilliant catch to record an out, but at the cost of sacrificing his body in the process. The former top-ranked prospect was called-up to the majors just over a week ago after beginning the season in Triple-AAA.

Since being recalled, ‘The Martian’ has hit even on the Mendoza Line in 8 games as a primary DH.. Defensively in 3.0 innings, Dominguez has been perfect.Â
All throughout his career, Dominguez has received criticism of his lack of defense, especially when he plays left field. 2025 marked a .989% fielding, but overall had him at -11 RDS/yr, making him a defensive liability.Â
Dominguez's catch in the first inning today was a showcasing of a new defensive Martian. Now, he may be sidelined for quite some time. After running back-facing into the wall with the ball in his glove, Dominguez would lay on the ground motionless. He would then be carted off the field with him in the passenger seat and visibly emotional.
Dominguez’s has been put in concussion protocol, and will undergo an MRI on his shoulder.
It is expected, that if he is to miss a period of time that it will then lead to the promotion of Spencer Jones. With Dominguez being in concussion protocol, he will be out for at least an expected 5-7 games.
Spencer Jones has dominated Triple-AAA SWB this season in 33 games. Jones is batting a .258 with a .958 OPS and has bashed 11 home runs. What’s even more impressive is that in the 33 game span, Jones has been responsible for 41 RBIs. Jones stood-out in spring training earlier this year and it was frankly a surprise for so many that he did not begin the season on New York’s 26-man.
