In early November, the New York Yankees parted ways with international scouting director Donny Rowland. The split ended Rowland’s 15-year tenure in the role and overall over 20-years with the Yankees organization.
The Yankees have suffered fallout since Rowland’s departure, although it will be unclear if any negative or positive affect will occur in the near future. Highly ranked Dominican shortstop Wandy Asigen cut ties with the Yankees shortly after Rowland’s departure.

Asigen, 16, is a top-ranked international prospect with elite bat speed and a strong defensive potential. The 6-foot-standing lefty hitter has hit balls as hard as 110mph. Asigen was originally on a verbal agreement with the Yankees, but backed out after the loss of Rowland.
The cross-town New York Mets took advantage of the upset teen and inked him to a $3.8 million dollar contract.
As of now it is unclear if the Yankees loss and Mets gain of Wandy Asigen will be a true loss or gain due to his young age and unreached ceiling. Nonetheless though this is just part of what has been a rather disappointing offseason in the Bronx.
