Jonah Tong has absolutely nothing left to prove at the Double-AA level as he fanned eight in a 3-hit performance over 5 scoreless innings on Tuesday for Binghamton.

Tong, the 22-year-old Mets second-ranked prospect, has sported a 1.02 ERA over 53 innings since the beginning of June. Overall in 97 innings across 19 starts this season, Tong has a 1.76 ERA and 0.938 WHIP with a 154:44 K:BB ratio as he averages just above 14 strikeouts per 9 innings.

Despite a truly dominant season thus far, the right-hander only has posted an 8-4 record, with only two of those wins coming in the last 28 days.

With an MLB debut ETA of 2026, it is still expected that the Mets are going to let Tong ride out 2025 fully at the Class AA level. Tong could skip AAA entirely if he receives an invite to spring training in 2026 and makes the opening day roster.

Standing at 6-foot-1 with a Tim Lincecum-like throwing motion, Tong has actually listed Lincecum among players that have had a video influence on his career, while also noting former Mets multi-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom.
