Russell Wilson Likely To Be Replaced Midseason By Jaxson Dart

Russell Wilson is at a stop-gap in his career. 2025 will be a year what will ultimately define his future as to if he will remain a starting quarterback or be forever demoted to a team’s second option.

More than likely Wilson will be replaced come midseason by 1st round pick Jaxson Dart no matter how good Wilson’s stat line will be. That seems to be the plan that the Giants front office has for their 2025/26 strategy. So Wilson will get roughly 7-9 games to recement himself as a starter before once again hitting free agency this offseason.

The Giants signed the former Super bowl winning QB to a one-year/$10.5M contract with a $2 million base salary. Wilson is still being paid from his Broncos contract that included offset language, meaning the Broncos were only responsible for the difference between their remaining obligation and Wilson’s salary with his new team.

Wilson, who was previously under a $242.5 million extension across five-years with the Broncos in 2022, has had inconsistent season and game stat lines that has had him once being considered elite to a potential QB2.

New York’s plan all along was to have Wilson be their stop-gap QB until Dart is considered to be ready. With an improved offensive line and wideout weapons such as Nabers and Slayton - not to mention playing for his career - We may very well see a vintage Russell Wilson in the games he appears in this season.
