Forgotten Bills: Glenn Gronkowski

Did you know that Gronk played on the Buffalo Bills? Well, unless you are an ultra diehard Bills’ fan you probably didn’t – maybe it’s because he played eight (8) snaps.

Glenn Gronkowski, the younger brother of Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski, played in a single regular season game for the Buffalo Bills in 2016.
The Buffalo Bills signed Gronkowski after he went undrafted in 2016 out of Kansas State, being inked to Buffalo’s practice squad. The former Wildcat player was a unit, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 239 lbs. Gronkowski would appear in just a single game and have eight total snaps.
The game came on Week 1, September 11th of 2016, when the Bills opened their season on the road against Baltimore. Gronkowski never touched the ball in those eight snaps, but he did commit a holding penalty. Buffalo would wind up releasing the younger Gronk a day later, leading him to end up on his brother’s New England Patriots.
Gronk’s time in New England came as a practice squad player that was released and re-signed a total of five times. He would be credited with a Super Bowl in that infamous 28-3 comeback game against Atlanta – although it’s unclear if he ever got an actual ring.
That Week 1 game for Buffalo would be the only NFL regular season game that young Gronk appeared in.
