The Yankees saw Geoff Hartlieb become the worst statistical pitcher in franchise history with a 40.50 ERA in 1.1 innings. New York would DFA Hartlieb, leading to his eventual release in July.

Before his failed Yankees tenure, Hartlieb was a New York Met. In 2021, the New York Mets claimed Hartlieb off waivers on July 9th, 2021 and assigned him to Triple-AAA Syracuse. Overall, Hartlieb made seven appearances for New York across the second-half of the season where he pitched to a 14.54 ERA in 4.1 innings.

Hartlieb’s combined stats as a New York Met and Yankee saw 5.2 innings, 12 H, 9 K’s, 10 BBs, 13 ERs. Those numbers translate to a 20.65 ERA and a 4.231 WHIP. Hartlieb’s WHIP on the Yankees (6.750) and Mets (3.000) are the first and third highest he has with a team dating back to the beginning of his major league career in 2019.
