Frank Gore Jr., was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills after going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Gore would be in-and-out of Buffalo’s system multiple times being released and re-signed on two separate occasions.

Gore has mainly spent his time with the Bills as a practice squad player, who appeared in preseason games, but was called-up to the active roster on January 11th, 2026, for the first-time ever. Gore’s official NFL debut came in the Bills’ Wild Card playoff game against the Jaguars. No regular season game time, just straight into the fire went Gore, who got the opportunity in part of Ty Johnson being injured.
Gore caught one pass from Josh Allen for six yards and had no carries in what was a limited debut for the former Southern Miss player.
The Buffalo Bills would sign Gore to a reserve/futures contract in early January of 2026.
Gore rushed for 102 yards in 23 attempts, while racking up 109 receiving yards off of 11 receptions during the 2025 preseason. No regular season appearances, but then followed with his playoff catch of six yards in the Wild Card game to mark his NFL debut. It is safe to say that Gore’s career is shaping up to be a low leverage player who will likely be a top practice squad piece – At least in Buffalo that is.
Let me remind you that Gore rushed for 4,022 yards in college, with the majority of those yards coming during his junior and senior seasons. He also had brief stints under center with Southern Miss, but overall Gore is a running back by nature like his future hall of fame dad – who also played for Buffalo in 2019.
The way the Bills running back depth chart is, Gore is listed as the Bills fourth option. James Cook is the obvious starter with Ty Johnson being a valuable backup and Ray Davis possibly being a solid third option. Gore can try to beat Davis out for the third slot, but it is unlikely as Davis and Buffalo seem to be in a set relationship. His best opportunity would be to be traded or picked up by a running back needy team.
The Bills are set in their run department barring any unforeseen catastrophic injury. If traded, Gore wouldn’t command too much at this point as his value would likely be for a seventh round pick or another low-value player. Gore is 24-years-old and still is electric in practice, if Buffalo doesn’t seem themselves using him during the regular season then trading him over cutting would be their best option for max value in what has been a very stalled progression.
