Jose Siri had the worst statistical season in New York Mets franchise history for a position player since Billy Hamilton’s 2020 season with the Mets.

Billy Hamilton, who was one of the fastest players in the league at the time of him being in New York, appeared in 17 games for the New York Mets. In those 17, Hamilton had 22 at-bats and recorded just a single hit to bat .045, which is the worst in franchise history for a position player. Hamilton’s OPS was a mere .129, but somehow only played to the tune of a -0.1 WAR.

Jose Siri did spend the majority of 2025 on the injured list after fracturing his left tibia, but when stepping on the diamond he showed many cracks. Siri posted 32 at-bats in 16 games, where he recorded two hits for a .063 average and posted four walks for an OPS just under .300. Siri, much like Hamilton, is known for his speed as he swiped two bases.

Despite a historically bad year for the player that everyone knows the last name of, he will still be playing professional baseball in 2026.

The Los Angeles Angels signed Siri to a minor league contract with an invite to the Halos’ spring training. This signing came after New York DFA’d Siri in late September, which then led the organization to outrighting him from their 40-man in which Siri then opted for minor league free agency.

Siri will earn $1.6M if he makes Los Angeles 26-man.
