The New York Yankees are now 12-13 in the month of June, 2026. Fresh off of a sweep from the last place Red Sox, the Yankees were nearly no-hit in two out-of the four games in the series. Looking to regain momentum and the ground they lost in the AL East, New York faced Detroit Monday night hungry for a win.

There was no feasting.
What there was during the game was much worse. A rare dropped ball by Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm being taken out of the game and placed in concussion protocol after colliding with Jasson Dominguez -- and worst of all the Yankees here held to just three hits, extending a very unforeseen streak.
Detroit would win the first-game of a three-game set against the Yanks', 7-3. For New York, they have now lost five-straight games. The blowout loss puts the Yankees -1.5 games back on Tampa Bay for first place in the AL East, a division they once led just a week ago.
Monday's game marked franchise history for the Bronx team. With the three-hit loss, the New York Yankees now have four consecutive games where they've been held to three or less hits. This is the first time in the Yankees over century-long history that this sleepy-bat stat has occurred.
New York's last four games have seen a combined team hit total of 12 hits, getting three hits every game. Meanwhile, New York pitching has allowed 36 hits in the same span, translating to essentially a hit per-inning across the four games. The Yankees are also the first team in American League history to hit under .100 and strike out at least 35 times over a four-game span. New York as a team are hitting .098 (12-for-123) over their last 4 games, marking their worst batting average over any four-game span in franchise history.
The Yankees face Detroit tonight for the middle match of the series set, looking to out-hit and close out June at .500% by getting back in the win column.
