The New York Mets announced Friday morning that the team has decided to move on from manager Carlos Mendoza.

New York currently sits 34-47 and are fresh off of being swept by the Chicago Cubs as the season reaches its halfway point. The Mets are -15.0 games behind first place Atlanta in the NLE, as they own sole possession of last place in the division, overall New York is -7.5 games back on fourth place Washington. The chances of winning the NL East are already all gone for New York, as their wild card hopes continue to slip away, which now show a double-digit deficit on the third slot.

Overall as manager of the New York Mets since 2024, Carlos Mendoza is 206-199 (.509%), with his best season coming in his first year with the Mets in 2024, leading the team to an 83-win season.

Taking over as interim manager is Andy Green. Green previously managed for the Padres and worked in the Mets minor leagues. As manager of the Padres from 2016-19, Green compiled a 274-366 record.
