Early Tuesday, West Haven High School announced the resignation of longtime football head coach Rich Boshea, ending what was a 39-year era. Boshea and the Blue Devils are fresh off of back-to-back state championship appearances, and overall being a dominating force over the past several years.

West Haven Superintendent Neil C. Cavallaro stated “We are shocked by Rich’s resignation.” Better known as Coach Bo, Rich Boshea has led West Haven to a 65-31 record since taking over the role of head coach. Boshea was previously the assistant coach for well over two-decades before taking the helm of the Blue Devils in 2015.

Boshea, who grew up a Blue Devils fan, would end up being a former Blue Devil football player himself.

Boshea took an assistant role in 1984 and remain with the Blue Devils until August of 2025, where he would end up mentoring several players who would end up playing Division I and II football.

As of now there has been no announcement as to who will be the next head coach of the West Haven Blue Devils football team.
