Updated: May 18, 2023

San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will miss the rest of the 2022/23 NFL season due to injury. The soon-to-be free agent broke his foot during a play in NFL week 13 vs the Dolphins.

With that the 49ers have named Brock Purdy as their QB1 going into week 14. Purdy was the 49ers last pick in the draft, going 262nd overall with the ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ title.

The 22-year-old threw 2 TDs and 2 INTs in relief of the injured Jimmy G, overall Purdy had 276 passing yards. Those two touchdowns marked the first from any ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ player in NFL history.

Purdy will be Mr. relevant this upcoming Sunday when San Francisco faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brock Purdy spent all four-years of college ball with Iowa State, appearing in 48-games. In that set Purdy went 993-for-1467 passing with 12,170 yards, throwing 81 touchdowns to 33 interceptions.
