One of the first moves this offseason for the Mets has them once again looking at players from their cross-state rivals.
The New York Mets have signed Jose Rojas to a minor league contract with an expected invite to spring training. Rojas, 32, is coming off of a 2025 season where he belted 32 home runs and dominated Triple-AAA SWB for the Yankees. A .287 batting average with an OPS that nearly hit 1.000 on the season gave Rojas one of the best campaigns of his professional baseball career.
The lefty slugger is invited to Mets major league camp and will make $820k if he makes the roster.
Rojas last appeared in the majors with the Angels back in 2022, since then he has bounced around various minor league and international teams. Overall, the former 36th rounder carries a career .188 average in 83 major league games.
Standing at 5-foot-10, Rojas plays rightfield, third and second base. If he makes New York’s roster, Rojas would be one of the faster players in Queens as he swiped 15 bases in 2025.
