MetLife Stadium has started changing its turf, this comes after the NFLPA calling for an immediate ban of slit film turf. The stadium will not be changing to grass, but this turf change will have a big effect on player’s careers and reduce injury risk.
MetLife Stadium has been home to multiple ACL tears over the last three seasons due to the turf. Overall MetLife Stadium is one of six NFL stadiums that is currently using slit film turf. The turf is being replaced by artificial grass, the change marks the third in the stadium’s history and will be its first time having artificial grass.
