Jets, Giants and Bills Snap 18-Year Streak, Make NFL History For Third Time This Century
Sunday saw all three New York football teams win.
The Jets embarrassed the Titans, the Giants found their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart against the Cowboys, and the Buffalo Bills had Josh Allen and Dalton Kiincaid make up for sloppy defense. With that, all three New York football teams begin their 2026 campaign on the left side at 1-0 in the standings.
The last time the Giants and Jets both won Week 1 was in 2009. Many Jet fans are familiar with that year as Mark Sanchez would later lead New York to the AFC Championship game. It’s also worthy to mention that 2009 saw the Yankees win their 27th (and so far most recent) World Series. The New York Yankees are currently 86-63, -4.0 games back on the Tampa Bay Rays and will most likely be a wild card team.
Overall, the last time all three teams won on Week 1 was 2008. The Giants took down Washington, the Bills dominated the Seattle Seahawks, and the Jets won a close one against Miami. It took 18-years for history to repeat itself, and overall this is just the third time in the 21st century that this has occurred (Week 1 of the 2000 season).
