Aaron Judge Was Once Compared To A 2.9 Career WAR Player
Aaron Judge is a sure bet for Cooperstown when eligible. The three-time AL MVP winner is quietly approaching 400 home runs, with 500 being in the conversations depending on if there’s a 2027 season or not. Nonetheless, what Aaron Judge has done in his 11-years in pinstripes has been nothing short of incredible.
Would you believe it though if someone told you that Aaron Judge was once compared to a player who only would have 339 hits in his MLB career? Yeah, I wouldn’t believe you either.
Shortly after being drafted in the 1st round at 32nd overall, the MLB Network showed a graphic with a player comparison for Judge. Who was that player you ask? It was Nolan Reimold.
Nolan Reimold is a forgotten player by many here in 2026. He had spent parts of his eight year career with Baltimore, Toronto and Arizona, and never won a single award nor did he have an all-star selection.
At the point of 2013, Nolan Reimold had played only 286 games and had a career WAR of 2.9 with a .252 career batting average in some 936 at-bats. By the time Judge made his Major League debut on August 13th, Reimold was a seasoned-vet, but unknowingly in the final year of his career. Nolan Reimold only appeared in 26 more MLB regular season games after that August 13th debut by Judge, all of which came in that 2016 season.
Reimold’s eight year career in the Majors would carry a career line consisting of a 2.9 WAR, 339 hits, 56 home runs, 174 RBIs and a .246 average accompanied by a .745 OPS in 480 games.
Meanwhile In Judge’s first 480 games, he had 463 hits, 135 home runs, 300 RBIs and a .268 average with an OPS of .938 in the same span (albeit it did come by having 348 more at-bats than Reimold).
Now, Aaron Judge is the face of Major League Baseball and is consistently one of the most dominant position players we have ever seen.
Aaron Judge’s current career stat line as of the 2026 offseason:
64.2 WAR | 1,211 G | 4,342 AB | 1,262 H | 386 HR | 871 RBIs | .291 / .410 / .610 / 1.020
