Danny Woodhead is primarily remembered for his San Diego Chargers career, which spanned from 2013-16. Before California and even before Massachusetts with the Patriots, Danny Woodhead was a New York Jet.
Playing in New York’s most recent glory days when Mark Sanchez was quarterback, Woodhead signed onto the team after going undrafted in 2008. An offseason injury kept Woodhead sidelined the entire season to mark a 0 stat lined rookie campaign.

On September 3rd, 2009, Woodhead rushed for 158 yards against the Eagles in a preseason matchup, which marked the second-highest preseason rush total the NFL had seen since 1992. Despite an impressive preseason, Woodhead was eventually cut from the Jets, but was shortly re-signed onto the practice squad, staying there until mid-October.
Woodhead saw his first regular season action on October 29th, 2009, when he rushed for 24 yards off three attempts. Overall, he finished 2009 with 15 carries for 64 yards, while also recording 87 receiving yards. The Jets organization would release the backup runner on September 14th, 2010, and would be picked up by the AFC East rival, the New England Patriots ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Jets.
Danny Woodhead was inactive for New England’s Week 2 affair. Overall, he would appear in 4 total career games against the Jets, where he would record 74 rushing yards and 150 receiving yards.
