Starting this article off by thanking God that the New York Yankees finally are playing in a ‘soft’ AL East, where a miserable series doesn’t necessarily set back the team.
The Yankees 18-2 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers also means a series loss, with a chance to salvage at least one game being in the series finale tonight.
18-2 looks horrible, sounds horrible and is horrible in every way possible. Now add in the fact that New York’s only two runs in the game came from the same player (Aaron Judge) goes to show just how battered the bombers’ offense was.
The 18-2 loss also marks the biggest loss in Yankees’ franchise history against a National League opponent (regular / post season), with a 16 run deficit.
This being a rematch of the 2024 World Series would make you think that the series would be competitive, so far it's been anything but that. An unusually poor outing by Cy Young candidate Max Fried and the recently powerful Will Warren faulting in the early inning put the Yankees in a hole they were unable to climb out of.
The Dodgers have outscored the Yankees 26-7 in two games during this three-game interleague series.
