Last night featured another abysmal loss that the New York Yankees suffered at the bats of the Detroit Tigers. A 11-1 blowout saw another late inning collapse by Yankee relievers that put a close game into a wide-open blowout.
New York (80-65) sits -3.0 games behind the Blue Jays. Overall, the Yankees are tied with the Red Sox at -3.0 games back, but New York has one-less loss than Boston which gives them sole possession of second place still in the ALE.
Last night’s 11-1 blowout coming off of a 12-2 blowout both of Detroit's doing makes Yankees franchise history. The back-to-back blowout losses make the Detroit Tigers the first visiting team ever to win back-to-back games by 10+ runs at Yankee Stadium (old or new), according to OptaStats.
The series finale is set for tonight at 7:05 p.m, as New York will then enter an off day tomorrow before a three game set at Fenway vs the Red Sox.
