The Brooklyn Nets took on the New Orleans Pelicans for their first game of the 2022/23 NBA regular season. The Nets came in after a disappointing playoff run leading to an early exit. The Nets took to the court for the night game in what was a packed Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Coming into opening night with big expectations due to the team retaining both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant this offseason, plus having a healthy Ben Simmons looked to be a new big three for the Nets team. The team shut those expectations down in the first several minutes of the game, outscored 32-14 after the first quarter. The Brooklyn team would chase the Pelicans all night in what would end up being a 130-108 blowout loss to begin the new season.
Kevin Durant put up a powerful night being the only light in the beaten team, a 32-point effort from the future hall of fame player. Kyrie Irving would have a solid double-digit effort as he was responsible for 15-points. Ben Simmons would be the night’s biggest loser as he only put up four points being fouled out.
The Nets look to get their first win of the season and move to .500% as they face the Toronto Raptors for Friday night basketball.
