For weeks now the Jets faithful have been saying for the team to let Brady Cook cook. Now, with Tyrod Taylor recovering from a groin injury and Justin Fields still sidelined from a knee injury that he sustained in practice, the undrafted quarterback will now be getting his first career start on Sunday.

New York will be traveling to EverBank Stadium for a Sunday afternoon Week 15 match against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags are 9-4 and lead the AFC South by a game over Houston. Jacksonville also comes into Week 15 protecting their four game winning streak and looking to improve their home record to 6-2.

Sitting at 3-10, New York starting Cook will mark him as another arm the Jets are throwing out for a late-season throwaway matchup. Cook, 24 and still fresh out of Missouri, will become the 13th different Jet quarterback to start since their last winning season in 2015, and overall is the 15th different quarterback to appear in a game since the 2015 season.

Brady Cook made his NFL debut in Week 14 late into the first quarter after Tyrod Taylor left with his groin injury. Cook demonstrated his gunslinging style, but most passes were dropped by his receivers, with two being intercepted. The Jets O-line didn’t help much for the undrafted rookie, allowing him to be backed six times in what was certainly his ‘welcome to the NFL game.’ Overall, Cook went 14-for-30 in his debut and passed for 162 yards with two picks for a 39.6 rating.
