Damar Hamlin's Time In Buffalo Is Over

I think it is safe to say that it is over for Damar Hamlin in both Buffalo and possibly even for his pro football career.

The 6-foot-standing safety has only appeared in five games this season and is set for free agency at the end of it. Before the 2025 preseason kicked off, Buffalo re-signed Hamlin on a one-year, $2M contract, after coming off of what was a career-high season.
2024/25 saw Hamlin notch two interceptions in 14 games started and played in 874 snaps. Compare that to this season as the league enters in Week 12 and Hamlin has appeared in 5 games, all in backup roles, and has only been on the field for a combined 12 snaps and just one tackle.
Hamlin has just simply not been used. He was placed on the Bills IR after sustaining a pectoral injury in early October and is now back to active, but even before his injury Hamlin was mainly used as a depth safety this season.
Damar Hamlin has never been a big defensive factor for Buffalo and when you have players such as Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp, there is no need for Hamlin to be in a starter role. Buffalo will likely like Hamlin walk this offseason unless he agrees to another one-year, low money deal.
