Earlier tonight post-the Yankees 7-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, a roster move was made.
At just 19-years-old George Lombard Jr., has been promoted to Double-AA Somerset. Lombard is ranked 97th on MLB.com’s top 100 prospects, overall he is New York’s top prospect with an MLB debut eta of 2027.
Lombard, who turns 20 in July, is listed at 6-foot-2 and bats from the right handed hitter’s box. Also throwing from his right side, Lombard plays SS, 2B and 3B for the Yankees minor league organizations.
Before his promotion, Lombard had a .329 batting average, which was accompanied by a .983 OPS in 22 games played with Hudson Valley.
13 RBIs, 23 walks and 11 stolen bases are just a few stats to name on his baseball card to a very dominant beginning of 2025.
