Yankees Get Back Former Player Tyler Wade After Trade

Updated: May 18, 2023

The New York Yankees have acquired UTI man Tyler Wade form the Los Angeles Angels. Tyler Wade started the season off hot with a batting average above .350, but now heading into the all-star break Tyler Wade owns splits of .218/.272/.272 through 67 games. The poor performance led to Wade being DFA’d by the Angels organization as they had ten days to make a decision on what to do with Wade. With that said the Angels traded Tyler Wade to the New York Yankees, a team he has spent almost the entirety of his career on as he balanced between the majors and triple-AAA. Most likely Tyler Wade will be sent to the triple-AAA RailRiders.

Tyler Wade can play every position in the game except pitcher, this trade comes as OF Aaron Hicks is listed day-to-day after fouling a ball off his shin, overall Hicks is expected to be back in the lineup Friday or Saturday. It is possible though that the Yankees picked up Wade in case Hicks ends up being out longer than expected or a possible trade/DFAing of the struggling Joey Gallo.
