Tyrod Taylor getting the call to start this Week 3 matchup against Tampa Bay will mark New York football history.

Taylor, who has had a journeyman career from being the future of the Buffalo Bills to bouncing around as a backup and even QB3, will make what will be his 59th career start. This will also be his first start as a New York Jet.

The former sixth-rounder was acquired via free agency going into the 2024 season by the Jets to be the primary backup to Aaron Rodgers. Taylor appeared in two games as a Jet, going 17-for-22 passing with 3 touchdowns. The 36-year-old took over late in Week 2 for the injured Justin Fields and would end up recording the only Jets touchdown of the game.

With Justin Fields out for at least one week, Tyrod Taylor gets the starting job. This start will mark Tylor as the first quarterback in pro football history to start at least one game for all three New York football teams. Taylor previously made New York football history when the Jets acquired him, making Taylor just the second-ever player to be on all three New York teams.

Taylor started 43 games for Buffalo, 5 for the Giants and at least for now 1 for the Jets. Overall, Taylor is 24-23 as a starter for New York football teams.
