The West Haven Blue Devils went up against the Notre Dame - Fairfield Lancers for the second time this season. In their first match up, NDF won 7-2, so West Haven came in with revenge and a lot of it too. The last time the Blue Devils beat the Lancers was all the way back in 2017 and they wanted to change that, and they did.
West Haven came in with a 3-3 record, sitting at .500, they left with a 4-3 record as they win 6-4, that win marks their second road win of the season. Assistant Captain, Ryan Smith scored his first career varsity goal along with Defenseman Anthony Peschell. Other goals were made by Ben Carfora, scoring his 6th on the season, Mike Alfano getting one in the net for the second time of 2021 with Ryan Bernardi and Mike Kelly getting their first goals on the season. Goalie Charlie Miller got 25 saves, with that he now has 208 saves on the season after 7 games, averaging about 29 saves per game, with that history is made as no West Haven hockey goalie has been able to pass 200 saves in seven games in franchise history!
So with that said there is no doubt that this was a very productive game and it also has given West Haven a massive amount of momentum as they get ready to play against rink rivals Notre Dame - West Haven on Saturday for what is going to be one of the biggest games during the CT hockey season. Before that though they are setting up to play Hamden on Wednesday.
