New York Jets Make Risky Cade Klubnik Move Before Week 1

The New York Jets did not make any waiver claims on quarterbacks despite holding the No.2 overall waiver wire priority. The lack of adding a quarterback now puts rookie Cade Klubnik just an injury away from seeing the playing field – a move that is incredibly risky for the Jets if they continue to roll with two 53-man roster QBs.
Geno Smith has been named as QB1, with 4th round pick Cade Klubnik taking up second-string roles as the New York Jets prepare for Week 1.
Bailey Zappe was waived as the Jets trimmed down their roster to reach the 53-man regular-season limit. Zappe would end up re-signing with the Jets to be on their practice squad, after originally joining the Jets over the early stages of the offseason.
On Thursday, the Jets had former Titans quarterback Will Levis and UFL MVP Jack Plummer work out for a potential backup role, but as of Friday neither Levis or Plummer has been signed.
