Local West Haven Author Highlighted With WTNH News 8 Interview

Local West Haven author and sports media personality Dominic Konareski appeared on WTNH News 8’s Good Morning Connecticut show on Thursday, March 26th. 



The morning show appearance came as Konareski talked about his newly published book ‘Gloves, Engines & Glory’ which deeply details the baseball and auto racing history of the Savin Rock section of West Haven, Connecticut from 1860-to-1967. The book was officially released on January 6th of this year.


Konareski, 21, is a 2023 graduate of West Haven High School and a life-long resident of the town.


Konareski also briefly spoke about his YouTube-based sports podcast New York Sports Show which is the top-ranked all-New York sports podcast on the platform in both follower and viewer count.


Being interviewed by News 8’s Keith Kountz, the live-TV interview marked the television debut for Konareski.



When asked why the book is on West Haven sports particularly, Konareski stated “I just feel like overall, when it comes to preserving history, particularly sporting history there’s just no preservation of it,” as Konareski referred to the lack of historical preservation in his town of West Haven.


The interview, which lasted just under four minutes, showcased the book and the podcast, where Konareski stated how he works between 9-to-12 hours a day working on his sports media.


“I didn’t even necessarily feel nervous, I just felt blessed, grateful and thankful,” said Konareski post-interview, as he also gave thanks to God. “God is good, God is great if you do not have a relationship with the Lord, get one, it’s priceless.”


Konareski also stated how he never expected to be an author, but also did not close the door on possible second book.



At the making of this article, 'Gloves, Engines & Glory has earned the title of "best new sports paperback" by Barnes & Noble.


Konareski also vlogged his entire experience, which also showed his raw emotion of reaching a career-high.



Overnight the New York Sports Show surpassed 70,000 subscribers and 250 million views, as the podcast continues to grow with Dominic Konareski also continuing to be a prominent figure in New York sports media.
