Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals was as lopsided as the New York City mayoral election. The Knicks dominated and held Philadelphia to under 100 points in a statement win to open up the series. With Game 2 hours away on the horizon with a 7:00 p.m. tipoff tonight at Madison Square Garden, the 76ers are already behind – and I’m not only talking about wins.
Joel Embiid’s availability has always come in question and has held him back. It didn’t take very long for his health to come factoring into the series. The 76ers will be down their star hooper tonight as Philly looks to even the set. Embiid is listed as out due to right hip soreness and a right ankle sprain.
Embiid was previously listed as probable with the ailments, but after not participating with the 76ers in shootaround practice early Wednesday, it would then become clear that he wouldn’t play.
Embiid had an unusual showing in Game 1, where he recorded 14 points in what was a rough shooting night that saw him 3-for-11 from the field. On the defensive side, the Knicks exploited his lack of mobility to their advantage, putting him in endless pick-and-rolls.
On the New York Knicks side, there is a clean injury report as of the making of this article as the Knicks look to take the second game and have this be overall a clean and quick series.
