Kevin Durant narrowed down his list to three teams he prefers to be traded to this offseason.

The two-time NBA champion would prefer to be traded to the Heat, Spurs or Rockets, with the 36-year-old interested in signing a contract extension with either-or of the three.

Despite Durants preference, the Suns are looking for a trade that is best towards team interest / future and not based on Durant’s short list. The Suns are reportedly in discussions with six-to-eight teams, with the New York Knicks said to not be in the mix. Reports show that New York made it abundantly clear to Durant's camp that they were not seeking a trade for the 6-foot-11 superstar.

Durant likely would’ve made his three-team list into a four-team if the Knicks had pursued or at least showed interest in him. New York, who is coming off of their first ECF appearance since 2000, is expected to make a big splash in the trade market this offseason, but it won’t be for Durant.

Durant has one year left on his contract and is set to make $54.7M for the 2025-16 season. If he is traded, he’d be eligible for a two-year / $122M extension beginning July 6th.

It is likely that the Knicks don’t want to give up multiple ‘big names’ for a soon-to-be 37-year-old who is coming off of a mainly down year stat-wise.

KD did spend 2.5 seasons in New York with the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-23, where he appeared in 129 games to average 29 points-per-game.
