Former New York Giants running back LeShon Johnson was found guilty and was convicted of six felony counts related to his role in a federal dog-fighting bust earlier this year.

The former G-man was found guilty by a federal jury in Oklahoma last week of violating the federal Animal Welfare Act’s prohibitions against possessing, selling and the transportation of animals to be used in fighting ventures.

Authorities seized 190 dogs, all of which were then surrendered to the government by Johnson.

Johnson had been charged in March in what the FBI is calling the largest seizure of dogs ever in a federal case. All 190 of the dogs were of the pit bull-type. Johnson will be sentenced at a later date and faces a maximum jail time of five years and a fine up to $250,000 on each of the six counts.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Johnson had bred and trafficked dogs for the fights.

LeShon Johnson appeared in 16 games in 1999 for Big Blue and rushed for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns in what would be his final season in the NFL.
