Before D Rose was even a thought in the NBA and on the Knicks, we had M Rose. Malik Rose appeared in 813 games during his career, with 230 of them coming as a Knick.

The Power Forward spent five seasons as a Knick, and was part of the team during his retirement year in 2008. Rose, who was known as the ‘Shaq of the NAC,’ originally came to the Knicks in the backend of the 2004/05 season after being traded from the Spurs for Nazr Mohammed and Jamison Brewer. This trade would send Rose, an already two-time champion with the Spurs, across the country to play for his third team.

Rose would be relegated to a minor supporting role during his time with the Knicks, starting in just 44 of his 230 games with the team. Rose’s biggest highlight with New York was his April 18th, 2007, performance against the Charlotte Bobcats, where he notched a 10-point, 15-rebount and 9-assist game to just miss out on a triple-double.

Rose was traded by the Knicks organization to the Thunder on February 19th, 2009 for Chris Wilcox. Overall as a Knick, Rose averaged just under 14 minutes of court time per-game, along with 4 PPG, 3 TRB and 0.8 AST. Despite not being much of a downtown shooter with a .177 3-pt% to back that up, Rose did have a career-high .231% from downtown during his Knicks tenure.

After the trade, Rose would announce his retirement shortly after, ending what was a 13-year career in the league.
