Dominic Konareski Announces New Book Chronicling The History Of The West Haven Yankees
Author, Journalist, and New York Sports Show creator Dominic Konareski announced earlier on Monday the upcoming release of his new book, Pinstripes In West Haven, a comprehensive look at the history of the West Haven Yankees.
The release is set for Saturday, October 17th, 2026, with the book being available for purchase exclusively with Barnes & Noble in paperback form.
From 1972-79, West Haven, Connecticut, was home to one of the most successful and dominant Double-AA clubs in Minor League Baseball. As an affiliate of the New York Yankees, the West Haven Yankees became an important stepping stone for players on their way to Major League Baseball, while bringing baseball to the Allingtown part of West Haven.
Konareski’s Pinstripes In West Haven documents that era of 1970s baseball in what has been dubbed as a “West Haven Yankees bible” by those who have had early access to the book. Pinstripes In West Haven showcases exclusive never before seen photos, eyewitness accounts and a full rundown on every single player to button-up their jerseys for a game.
The West Haven Yankees won four AA Eastern League championships during their time in West Haven, making the organization a significant part of New York Yankees history.
Pinstripes In West Haven is the first-ever book showcasing the West Haven Yankees in any way, as Konareski’s work seeks to preserve that history lasts through his extensive research and storytelling.
The Foreword of Pinstripes In West Haven was done by Michael Salvatore Smith, who grew up attending West Haven Yankees games. Smith’s contribution to the book is “some of the best you can ever find, while getting a broader look at the team,” said Author Dominic Konareski.
Michael S. Smith has never before seen photos of his West Haven Yankees collection featured in the book. Overall Smith, who went to numerous West Haven games, gives a personal look in his foreword by an incredible way of his own words and accounts. Smith is a West Haven sports historian and was previously featured in Konareski’s Gloves, Engines & Glory book earlier this year, giving an endorsement.
“Having Mike coming on as the foreword piece of the book is monumental and frankly an honor so incredible that I still cannot find the correct words that could showcase how grateful and honored I am to have him part of the book,” said Konareski.
Along with Michael is Madison DeStefano being part of the book. Madison DeStefano, better known by ‘MADS’ to her following of close to 10,000 amongst various platforms, gives her personal account of being a New York Yankees fan as a whole.
DeStefano, a Connecticut native, has grown largely over the 2026 Major League Baseball season as a New York Yankees content creator with her Generational Run podcast, where she talks Yankees baseball with various content creators. DeStefano starts Pinstripes In West Haven with the opening chapter, which showcases what it means being a New York Yankees fan.
“Having MADS come on is great, especially when you consider that we are both Connecticut-based content creators,” said Konareski. “Madison’s contributions that ultimately open the book gives the reader a sense of what it’s like being a New York Yankees fan in a perspective that accurately showcases emotions, along with the prestige that comes with being a fan.”
Madison will have the opening chapter as Michael’s foreword is featured in the book’s second of what is 15 total chapters.
Pinstripes In West Haven is a total of 146 pages that are in a fully in-color paperback book. The book, set to be publicly available for purchase on October 17th, 2026, is exclusive with Barnes & Noble. The book can be purchased both online for delivery and in-person at any Barnes & Noble.
This is the second book that Konareski has authored both in his lifetime and in 2026 as a whole. Earlier this year in January, Konareski published his Gloves, Engines & Glory book, which would end up as a top-rated sports paperback by Barnes & Noble. The book was featured on WTNH News 8, the West Haven Voice, and on WELI.
Konareski stated that Pinstripes In West Haven is bigger both in book dimensions and page count, while being much more deeper when it comes to information.
