The ARCA Series never fails to impress when it comes to preserving history. This past weekend at Talladega, two cars that took to track were from the early 2000s.

According to FDNY Racing, the car that Bryan Dauzat raced at Talladega is the same chassis that Dale Earnhardt Jr., won the 2003 Budweiser Shootout with. The chassis is also the same one that Danica Patrick drove to 6th place in her stock car debut at the 2010 Daytona ARCA race.
The chassis is currently serving the No.75 Brother-In-Law Motorsports plate car.
Dauzat drove the car earlier this year as well at Daytona, where he finished in 28th. The 66-year-old started in 36th at Talladega Saturday, and would later be involved in a wreck, ending his day, leading to a 37th place finish.
Racing with the former DEI chassis was a former Chip Ganassi Racing car.

Squirrel McNutt would make his Talladega ARCA debut in the No.0 for Rette Jones Racing. McNutt, whose real name is George Siciliano, would be driving a 2001 chassis that Sterling Marlin used in the 2001 Daytona 500.
A cloud of darkness surrounds the 2001 Sterling Marlin ‘01 Daytona 500 chassis, as that was the car involved in the wreck that saw the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

This is also the same chassis that Frankie Muniz drove in his ARCA Daytona race two years ago that also ended in a crash. Muniz had a strong childhood connection to Dale Sr., and was one of the last people to talk to him before the 2001 Daytona 500.
McNutt would be involved in a late-race wreck, and would be credited with a 29th place finish.
It is really insane to comprehend that you had two chassis tied to the Earnhardt’s in some way from the early 2000s still racing in 2026. That does go to show to at least a degree that it is somewhat easy to convert a gen 4 car to a gen 6 car.
What’s even crazier is that Dale Earnhardt Sr’s grandson Bobby Earnhardt competed in the race. Bobby Earnhardt, who is the eldest son of Kerry Earnhardt (half-brother of Dale Jr), would finish 31st as he was involved in the same wreck as McNutt.
