The Brooklyn Nets have gotten very little love this season from fans and media – and rightfully so considering Brooklyn is bottom five in the entire league.
Last night though was a different Nets team. In fact it was a historic Nets team for all the good and right reasons.
Coming into Barclays Center for a home game, Brooklyn was still searching for their seventh win of the season. Facing the Nets were the 11-15 Bucks, who have struggled since the loss of Giannis Antetokounmpo.Â
The Nets would take advantage of the Giannis-less Bucks in a 127-82 rout, which was all done with Brooklyn playing four first-round rookies. When all was said and done in front of a home crowd of some 16,000, the Nets, led by Steve Hetzel as the temporary head coach, would tie their biggest point-margin win.
Hetzel was at the helm of Brooklyn briefly due to head coach Jordi Fernandez being out with the flu. The assistant coach stepped up and led the Nets to a night to remember. The 45-point margin, along with having nine scorers in double figures ties two team records.
The Nets, who now sit at 7-18, now have won four of their past six games.
