West Haven/Sacred Heart Hockey Team Announces 2021 Captains

With the 2021 high school hockey season just several days away from puck drop after a highly anticipated wait the season captains were announced over the past several days on the WHSHAH official Instagram account ( @whshahockey )

The first announcement was with senior defensemen Mackenzie Gardner who has been with the team the past four years playing a big part in the SCC title win just several years ago, you can always expect her to produce to the fullest extent no matter what the score is. She is unstoppable on the ice.

It was then announced that Jenna Hunt, a 13-year vet when it comes to hockey who has been on the varsity ice for four years as well will be the captain next to Gardner.

Between both Mackenzie and Jenna there is a total of 23 years of ice hockey experience.

Last year the WHSHA team had a next-man-up situation as their goalie got injured. Hailey Alfano took the role and excelled at it, as she played without a doubt a huge part of the 19-4 record (14-0 in SCCS) Alfano will be the assistant captain as she also enters her fourth year in varsity puck.

Mia Celentano will also be the assistant captain, she has only seven years of experience in the hockey world, which is the least among the 2021 captains. With that said you would not be able to tell that as she plays like a true pro that she will be one day if she continues on her career.

The season has been cut short due to the COVID-19 virus, many teams will most likely struggle due to the changes, but with the WHSHA team having the players they have and they captains as well you can almost expect another undefeated SCCS season.
