Soderman Bowl: West Haven To Play Notre Dame-WH For First Game Of 2022 Football Season

Football season is still a long way away, but the formation of the 2022 schedule is being set for play. The Connecticut High School State Football Class LL division is looking to have a neck-to-neck season all up and down the standings. For the West Haven Blue Devils the biggest battle of this 10-game 12-week war will be the opening game of the season. The first game of the 2022 regular season features the Soderman Bowl, West Haven goes across the town to Veterans Field to play the Green Knights of Notre Dame-West Haven. The game is expected to land on September 9th or 16th with no official date announced as of now.

The last time these two rivals met was week 8 of the 2021 season where the Blue Devils won 27-20 in what was a pure defensive game which featured multiple fumbles by both sides. The last time the two sides played on Veterans Field was on November 15th, 2019 where ND-WH secured the win in the final seconds of play where Notre Dame won 41-35.

The Blue Devils enter play in 2022 almost a totally different team after the losses of the powerhouse Senior duo of Joe Hawkins and Kyshawn Togba. The team is projected to be under Sophomore QB Nick Conlon who led the team to a 7-1 record as a starter after replacing the injured Preston Denno in the middle of the week 2 game against Hamden. Overall West Haven missed the playoffs by just over five points after going 8-2, they look to get revenge and the best way to do so is taking down the green machine.
