The New York Jets have swept the rookie of the year categories. Both Offensive Rookie of The Year and Defensive belong to Gang Green.
It was announced on Thursday, February 9th, that Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner won the rookie awards.
Both players were picked up in the first round of the 2022 draft by the New York Jets organization at No. 4 and No. 10, respectively. You can also put in Breece Hall (RB | drafted 36th overall) as a offensive RoY contender if he didn’t fall to injury mid season.
Gardner had 75 Total Tackles, 20 PBUs and 2 INTS. The Safety also had the lowest passer rating allowed and only allowed a total of 54 yards in man coverage.
Garrett Wilson worked through three different starting QBs this season and still found major success. In 147 targets he had 84 receptions for a Jets rookie record of 1,103 yards. Wilson averaged 13 yards-per-catch, having 56 receiving first downs.
The New York Jets have a bright future ahead of them with a championship winning team. It is just a matter of time until the Jets see success.
