NYCFC has signed Slovenian youth talent Mitja Ilenic, an 18-year-old right-back who played for NK Domzale in the Slovenian PrvaLiga in 2022.
Transfer market values Ilenic around $425K USD, it was then announced by @NYCFCSOURCE that the club paid around $1.5M with Polish football scout Pawel Turek tweeting that the deal was finalized.
Ilenic will add depth to the right-back position behind Tayvon Gray, who signed a two-year extension with NYCFC in November.
NYCFC is going into a mini rebuilding phase of the team's short history, signing a young international talent of Ilenic will begin the setting for the future of the club.
