Pacome Dadiet is the New York Knicks’ one and only first round pick from the past four years. To this point, Dadiet has been what can only be described as underwhelming and even disappointing in what has mainly been a below average G League career that has seen limited time in the NBA.

With a sub 23 three-point percentage and inconsistent play at the lower level G League, many scouts are starting to consider the Frenchman as a bust. Some scouts even have started to compare Dadiet to a familiar Knicks bust: Kevin Knox. Nonetheless, despite these unfavorable comparisons and write-offs, many still believe that Dadiet could turn the corner and become what New York expected when originally drafting him in 2024.

Dadiet is 20-years-old, and carries a 6-foot-9 build and basketball IQ that still has him primed to be a top forward – but time (and especially patience) is running out. He is on the Knicks roster and is expected to get the bulk of summer league minutes this July compared to others.

So far Dadiet has struggled heavily in the Knicks first two summer league games. While New York begins the summer campaign at 0-2, Dadiet is averaging 16.5 points and 36% shooting, hitting just 15.4% from downtown.

Being on the Knicks roster, Dadiet is guaranteed at roughly $3 million in part of the contract that includes a team option for next season with an October 31st deadline. If New York doesn’t pick up the team option for $5.3 million, then Dadiet would become a low-value trade candidate or free agent next summer. As of early July, there is no justification as to picking up Dadiet’s option, as he would have to have a massive summer league and showcase improvement in the time (if any) he gets in the NBA this 2026/27 season.
