Jets Ink QB Trevor Siemian; Not Expected To Play For Several Weeks

The New York Jets have signed quarterback Trevor Siemian to their practice squad, but it is expected that the 31-year-old will be elevated to their active roster within the next several days.

New York needed a new QB, and they got one…Three weeks late

The New York Jets should’ve signed a quarterback on September 12th, or at least after Week 2. It will take Siemian at least 1-2, possibly even three weeks to be ready to actually start a game due to him having to learn the playbook.

Meanwhile, Zach Wilson is the projected QB1 for Week 4 against Kansas City and at least the short future, unless Gang Green rolls with Tim Boyle, but that looks rather unlikely.

New York’s next three games are against: Chiefs (defending SB champions), Broncos and Eagles (QB Jalen Hurts is 20-1 currently in his last 21 regular season games played, went to SB last season). So, the Jets could possibly move to 2-4 or 1-5.

The Week 5 matchup against Denver will be interesting, but certainly won’t be winnable with the current state of Zach Wilson’s lack of football IQ.

Overall, Siemian has appeared in 35 games over the course of eight years. In his one and only game / start as a New York Jet (2019), Siemian went 3-for-6 passing in a Jets’ loss.
