Yesterday the New York Jets waived quarterback Tim Boyle, as the team continues to shape out their 53-man roster.
Tim Boyle was Aaron Rodgers’ backup QB in Green Bay, he was the first player New York acquired in their journey to land AR8.
This is most likely a temporary release as Boyle will be a practice squad candidate if no other teams show interest. The veteran signal caller has started in 3 of his 17 appearances, and would likely represent experienced depth in the QB room.
With the release of Boyle, New York now carries two quarterbacks on their team: Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson. New York also cut punter Thomas Morstead, who is also expected to rejoin the team and be their punter for 2023.
Tim Boyle (33-56, 55.1%), passed for 358 yards, throwing 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in the preseason for New York.
