Anthony Banda is going to be one of those rare occasion players who will get a ‘forgotten players’ column made for them on both the Yankees and Mets side. I for one had no clue nor remembrance that Banda was a member of the 2022 Yankees until I saw his stat line while doing work on his forgotten Mets article.

Before pitching against the New York Yankees in the 2024 World Series, Anthony Banda was a member of the Yankees in 2022. The Yankees were the fourth team the journeyman Banda resided on after stints with Pittsburgh and Toronto, along with a minor league stint under the Seattle Mariners organization.

The Yankees inked Banda to a one-year, major league contract after he opted out of his Mariners contract several days prior. Banda appeared in two games for the Yankees and didn’t even record a combined inning pitched.

Banda pitched ⅔ of a inning while allowing 2 hits and walking 5. He did record a strikeout, but allowed 3 earned runs for a 40.50 bloated ERA and a 10.500 WHIP for a -0.1 WAR.

The ⅔ of an inning pitched came in Banda’s first career appearance for New York, where he struck out one and walked two. One game later Banda was unable to record an out before getting the hook after allowing three runs. The Yankees were losers in both of Banda’s appearances.

New York would DFA Banda on September 3rd, 2022, where he would later be sent outright to Triple-AAA Scranton, whom he would end the season with.
