The West Haven Blue Devils Varsity Boys Hockey Team will meet up tonight for a Wednesday night hockey affair against the Notre Dame - Fairfield Lancers. This is West Haven’s second away game of the season, their previous away game was against Cheshire where they lost 4-0. Overall the Blue Devils have displayed great hockey in every game this season despite their 0-3 record. West Haven sits 0-3 (0-1 away) as NDF comes in 1-4 (0-1 home) tonight, West Haven is outscored 20-5 this season as NDF is outscored 21-9 as both teams enter play. The Blue Devils are led by Sophomore Goalie Javed Ullah who is in his first year as a starter, already on the season Ullah has 87 saves which leads all of West Haven’s hockey goalies as he currently averages 29 saves per game. Ullah did get limited playing time last season where he got 5 saves to bring his career number to 92 saves, Ullah is only 8 away from his 100th career save as most likely it will come in front of an away crowd tonight.
West Haven is a fairly young team when you look at it as only five seniors are in this 2021-22 squad. Overall it has been the underclassmen so far this season when it comes to the majority of the points, but the upperclassmen have been playing a huge part of the team with their veteran skills. West Haven looks for revenge tonight as just several months ago it was NDF who knocked them out of the playoffs in the first round at that rink. The puck is set to drop at 8:00pm for this game.
