West Haven Loses Star Wideout Via School Transfer

West Haven Football has already taken a beating this offseason with the loss of over 20 players due to graduation, you can now add another to the list of departures. The only thing is he won’t graduate until 2025.

It was revealed that the Blue Devils are losing their star wideout in the name of Teriq Mallory. The New Haven native has committed to Cheshire Academy, to pursue his football career.

The transferring leaves West Haven without a true No.1 WR going into 2023. It will undoubtedly leave a task to the coaching staff to find a first-stringer when tryouts and preseason activities occur during the summer and new school year.

The Receiver said, “I am very thankful for my teammates and coaches at West Haven for a great 2022 season.”

The quote comes from what was a goodbye note leading up to his transfer news.

Mallory had 30 receptions last season for 423 yards (14.1 YPC), along with 4 touchdowns over the course of 11 games. The 6-foot-4 junior used his height to the advantage on multiple occasions, gaining the nickname ‘Magic’ due to his skills.

Teriq Mallory will be reclassifying to the class of 2025 once at Cheshire Academy.

The school has produced over 100 college football players during the last decade, many of which have and are at the NCCAF DI level. The Cats compete in the highly competitive Northeast Prep Football Conference, the team went 3-6 last season.
