The Yankees Got This Pitcher For Just $1

The New York Yankees acquired right hander David McKay who has a 6.08 career ERA from the Rays. McKay last played in the MLB with the Detroit Tigers where he posted a 54.00 ERA in just 0.1 IP. The last time McKay played more than a single game was in 2019 where he had a 5.59 ERA through 18 games and 19.1 innings. Despite the 5.59 ERA through those 18 games David McKay was a strikeout beast as he posted 29 K’s in those 19.1 innings pitched. McKay did not play in the minors with the Rays, but is expected to be a AAA reliever in the Yankees farm system. The 27-year old can easily be in pinstripes pitching in the Bronx this season, no matter what though the Yankees won this trade. The Yankees got McKay for just $1 from Tampa Bay, making this trade one of the least valuable trades in MLB history.
