The 2019 - 2020 season is over for the West Haven Blue Devils Varsity Football team as it was a season most would want to forget but, it was a learning experience. The Blue Devils would end their season with a loss to Fairfield Prep. ending the season 2-9 in the win/loss column (according to MaxPreps.) The Devils looked promising in the preseason but as the regular season kicked off the roster was riddled with injuries. The Devils did have some highs this season though as they shutout NFA to win their second and final game in a 27-13 win dominating the second half of play. This was the Blue Devils worst year in over a decade but, the players played every game like they were undefeated giving 1000% in every game.
Let's look at some of the key players of the Devils roster.
Wide Receiver and Linebacker Dontae Noel had an amazing season both offensively and defensively, proving to be a threat wherever he is making stunning catches and stops to the other teams drive. The #52 of Kyshawn Togba played his first season as a Blue Devils Varsity Player and he did not disappoint, constantly helping and improving the team week in and week out. Joe Hawkins plays one of the hardest positions on the team being a tackle, by far one of the toughest jobs of the offensive line and he did not disappoint being a very valuable player to the team.
Malachi Wright lived up to the hype this season being one of the standout players on the team both defensively and offensively as he played Running Back and Outside Linebacker. Dontae Salvatore had a great season helping the team on tough situations out on the field, being another one of the stand out players on the team. If it wasn't for injuries this season the West Haven Blue Devils definitely would of been a playoff threat with the stacked roster of talent they have.
